Introducing ‘Enriching Paws’ and Owner Beth

The values of our entire team at The Pet Carpenter boil down to bringing health, wellness, safety and enrichment to our nations’ pets. So when we get the opportunity to work with industry experts to bring our readers and furry friends top quality pet wellbeing advice and guidance it is something we always jump at. We have been fortunate to be introduced to Beth Walker, a veterinary nurse, lover of pooches and all animals, just like us. We are now incredibly excited to announce that Beth from Enriching Paws will be collaborating with The Pet Carpenter, bringing “Enriching Paws” content directly to you. We’ll let Beth do the talking and introduce herself:

“My name is Beth and I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse, based in Plymouth, Devon. Having first started working in Veterinary Practice in 2012, as an Animal Nursing Assistant, I soon continued on to gain my Veterinary Nurse Qualification in 2016 and have since worked in a local small animal veterinary clinic.

As a Veterinary Nurse, I am obviously passionate about all pets, however I do have a keen interest in canine behaviour, which has led me to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Canine Behaviour and a second Level 3 Diploma in Canine Communication. Always eager to expand my knowledge, I am currently undertaking a Level 4 Accredited Advanced Dog Behaviour Diploma and I hope to complete it early next year (2022). Away from canine behaviour I have also undertaken a BSAVA (British Small Animal Veterinary Association) merit award in Dermatology as well as completed the BSAVA Merit Award in Nutrition.

These qualifications have helped me to produce informative and creative content for my Instagram account ‘Enriching Paws’, a hub of enrichment ideas for dog owners! Started in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, my aim for the the Enriching Paws Instagram and website is to help dog owners find new ways to keep their dogs active and engaged. I share weekly enrichment toy prep, along with a wide range of DIY toy tutorials, healthy recipes and adaptations for dogs with additional needs.

At home I live with my four legged team of enrichment toy and taste testers, all adopted from Gables Farm Dogs’ and Cat’s home, there is senior black Labrador Retriever Harvey, who was adopted in May 2017 and failed foster puppy, Hudson who was brought home at 6 weeks of age in February 2020 to socialise and learn but stole our hearts and never left. In charge of the whole operation is Stompy the cat, adopted in March 2018, who ensures the dogs are kept in line and can often be found sunbathing on the dog beds!

In the spare time I have left, I enjoy exploring new walks with Harvey and Hudson and volunteering as a Team Lead for the Plymouth division of homeless charity StreetVet UK which aims to provide accessible veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness across the UK”.

We are really excited to collaborate with Beth, Harvey, Hudson and Stompy to bring you the very best pet enrichment advice. We look forward to bringing you Beth’s first article soon. Watch the space and if you have any questions, why not connect with Beth.
