Meet The Pet Carpenter Team!

The Pet Carpenter is a family business based in Devon. Community has always been at the core of everything we do. We take pride in how close our team have become since we started in 2020. Now we’re back up and running in our fancy new workshop, we thought it was high time we introduce you properly to The Pet Carpenter team!

Harry started The Pet Carpenter from his kitchen table in the midst of the global pandemic in 2020. What started off as a way to keep himself occupied during lockdown quickly snowballed into The Pet Carpenter team we know today! Harry has always been very hands on and enjoyed helping his dad with DIY growing up. Following his studies in Sports Science and managing a diving club, he retrained as a Bench Joiner working on residential projects, before founding The Pet Carpenter.

Harry’s dog Theo is a 3.5 year old Sproodle (springer spaniel cross poodle) who absolutely loves the beach. Harry enjoys taking Theo out on the kayak for a paddle when the conditions allow. Harry also has a 2 year old cat called Dolly, who is a Bengal cross. The Luna Bedroom is one of Harry’s favourite builds. It features a clever food and water bowl drawer, which enables your pet to conveniently access their bowls both inside and outside their crate.

Gemma, Harry’s sister, is the brains behind all things marketing and strategy here at The Pet Carpenter. She studied marketing at university and set up her own business 5 years ago after coming back from travelling. Gemma now works with a range of clients across a wide range of industries, helping them reach new audiences and deliver exciting brand campaigns. She loves the awesome team environment here at The Pet Carpenter, as well as the opportunity to get really creative. Of course, having all The Pet Carpenter pups visit the workshop provides plenty of workday fun!

Gemma’s labradoodle Finn is 4.5 years old. He’s meant to be miniature but kept growing! They’ve been using The Pet Carpenter Raised Feeding Bowls at meal times for a while now and Gemma has certainly noticed the physiological benefits for Finn. When they’re not working you’ll find Gemma and Finn out mountain biking, hiking and camping on Dartmoor and of course paddle boarding together.

Tom landed his first job at 16, helping his dad who is a Carpenter. He’s got firsthand experience working on a wide range of carpentry jobs, from timber frame butterfly houses, to conservatories and a whole host of furniture. Tom is also in charge of the finishing for The Pet Carpenter range. This involves spray painting each unit, as well as colour matching our bespoke orders.

In fact, our Bespoke Builds are what Tom enjoys working on most, as they present plenty of exciting challenges, particularly when it involves irregular sizing or quirky forms. It’s also the perfect opportunity for Tom to get creative with different coloured paints and other bespoke features.

When Tom’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his partner and Cosmo the mini Dachshund. Cosmo was the smallest in the litter and was given the nickname Tiny Tim.

Oscar is currently training with us at The Pet Carpenter. He’s achieved his Level 1 in Carpentry and Joinery and is studying for his Level 2 at college. He loves learning new techniques on the job and seeing how his hard work pays off when one of our lovely customers shares a review. Oscar has recently learnt how to make our Reggie Raised Beds himself and is really enjoying the challenge of scaling the different sizes we offer.

While Oscar doesn’t currently have any pets of his own, he’d love to have a dog someday. When he’s not working you’ll find Oscar practising Martial Arts or just chilling out in his flat after a busy week.

Hattie studied Photography at Falmouth University and graduated in 2015. Since then, she’s established a name for herself in the pet industry, working with a host of brands (including us!) on image and video projects for their social media, website and marketing campaigns. Hattie has three pups of her own. Woody the black working cocker spaniel, Hen the ginger working cocker spaniel (who’s blind!) and Cally the working cocker spaniel cross labrador.

When Hattie’s not busy photographing and filming our furniture projects, you’ll find her hiking the south west coast path, paddle boarding or climbing on Dartmoor! Her dogs love their Mabel Bedroom with The Pet Carpenter’s signature up and over door system, which takes pride of place in their new home.

Beth is a registered Veterinary Nurse. She has been working in the field for over 10 years and has additional qualifications in Nutrition, Canine Behaviour and Canine Communication. Beth’s on hand to advise our product development, to ensure pet’s welfare remains at the forefront of The Pet Carpenter range. She also writes for our blog, covering a range of canine topics including enrichment via her Enriching Paws account.

Beth has two rescue dogs of her own, Harvey the 11 year old black Labrador and Hudson the 2.5 year old Lurcher. When Beth’s not working you’ll find her in the Hoopers and Agility rings with Hudson – they’re hoping to start competing together soon! Harvey on the other hand prefers snoozing away in their bespoke Samson Bedroom!
